I wasn't really planning
on seeing this, as I didn't really like Before Sunrise
all that much, but I guess fate
really likes me (like I don't already know that) because it put me in a situation wherein it just became so convenient
to watch, and now I'm so glad
The thing you have to know before you see this movie is that you should be prepared to listen, because the movie is basically one conversation that is an hour and a half long. But really, you can't blame them because the characters are people who haven't seen each other in 9 years. And trust me, you wouldn't want to blame them anyway because, as boring as watching two people just walk around Paris and talk and not do anything else, may sound, this film certainly isn't. All the topics they talked about were interesting, useful, and it all made sense.
I have nothing bad to say about this film, and although that doesn't really mean much coming from me, as I'm so easy to please as an audience, I'm fervently hoping you believe me anyway. After all, this is a sequel, and I don't normally like sequels, and so praises from me are definitely rare. But this movie deserves all kinds of praises. And if I had a Friendster account, I'd waste no time in adding this to my 'Favorite Movies' list.
When this is out on DVD, I'm definitely buying. I think the dialogue here (and it was all dialogue) is the kind you'd never get tired of hearing. They must be geniuses, to have been able to write a single scene of conversation that although is more than an hour long, is still very interesting each second. I'd say this has to be one of the best films ever made, or at least one of the most difficult to write. (It's interesting to note that the screenplay of this film was written by the director Richard Linklater, and Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy themselves.)
It certainly proves that a film doesn't have to have action or special effects (the simple flashback scenes at the beginning of the film was great), and can be as simple as just two people talking to each other, for it to be a very good one.
Anyway, this would've been longer, but there is absolutely nothing I can complain about and I don't know enough words to give it enough compliments. I like it so much!
